The inside of optical distributor infra red diode and photo electronic cell with interrupter plate with alot open windows for the sensor to know where top dead center and NO 2, 3 or NO 4 cylenders.
On a picture we can see supplay voltage wich is 5V. When  interrupter ring rotates and block the LED we can notice the voltage goese to ground to 0V .In this picture the pattren of sensor give us reading the sensor works. this sensor baisicaly work as a kettering ignition sytstem by breaking the power supplay to coil to induce high voltage for spark plug to fire.
This is the most correct speed sensor if we compare to hall effect or magnetic pick up ones as it got a scale of 360 degrres . this is the most advanced and also expensive to build , so progress decide to take advatntage on cheap magnetic piock up sensors wich can be found in late modle vehicles.
